Who we are

Make Child Poverty History ñ MCPH is an ongoing global initiative to mobilize resources and bring together individuals and organizations in an effort to eradicate child poverty, one child, one village at a time. The Make Child Poverty History initiative began when board members of the founding corporation, WSI decided it was time to take more active steps to end child poverty on a global scale.

Our true goal is to encourage individuals and corporations to make this mission a part of life, a way to make a difference with actions that may seem small but which count nonetheless. The Make Child Poverty History program is not a charity. There is no monetary compensation for the work we do, just the satisfaction that we are helping save the lives of children and their families by taking steps to end child poverty.

Global corporate philanthropy statistics on child sponsorship are not currently very high around the world. Yet, we strongly believe that providing children with the nourishment and education they need helps impoverished communities improve their standard of living and move closer towards being able to sustain themselves.

Ventanilla, Peru is situated in one of the most water-starved areas of the world. WSI first got involved in helping the children of Ventanilla when the company began a child sponsorship campaign through a leading international charity, World Vision, in 2004. The company now sponsors all eligible children, hundreds of them, in the villages of Ventanilla (Peru), Den Chai (Thailand) and South Cotabato (Philippines).

Although it began as a corporate outreach program, Make Child Poverty History has now evolved and expanded to include partner organizations, international charities and individual champions. All of these members together, act as a catalyst in garnering greater and wider support to the MCPH cause, globally. While fundraising events and charitable activities may take place from time to time to rally the resources of a group, these are only tactical measures to reach the MCPH goal and ongoing mission.

Volunteer Committees

Make Child Poverty History is made possible by the generous support of our partners - corporations and their employees, World Vision and like-minded individuals who are eager to work for change. The development, coordination and administration of the MCPH movement is handled by volunteers whose efforts are organized into the below committees. They would love to hear from you so please send an email and lend a helping hand!
